The Wayfarer’s Midday Menu
It all began with the Council of Trento…
In 1545, Trento became the main seat of the Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church.
Around the same time, the Osteria a Le Due Spade was founded — a well-regarded inn offering the house’s finest delicacies.
A true gastronomic destination, it welcomed prelates, nobles, and travelers alike. Whether arriving on foot or horseback, many would stop here on their way to the Cathedral of San Vigilio (Trento’s Duomo) or to other historic landmarks such as the Buonconsiglio Castle.
Today, the “Wanderer’s Midday” menu (Menu del Viandante) offered at lunch is inspired by that very tradition — a selection of light yet flavorful dishes, designed to satisfy without weighing you down.
